'Could not initialize populations, no circuit found'

#1

Dear all,
I regularly run into the error ‘Could not initialize populations, no circuit found’, so I wonder how the populations are correctly specified. What I am currently, I return my neuron population and save it to a variable called ‘circuit’. For the most basic case is there anything else that is required?

Thanks!

Okay, found the solution: Populations as defined with the GUI to the left of the brain file are never allowed to be named ‘circuit’. ‘circuit’ is the predefined variable for the brain overall population, which needs to be set in the brain file itself. If a population is named as ‘circuit’, this will delete the general brain description.
In addition errors related to the not found populations may be a consequence of an error in the brain script, so it always make sense to first make sure the brain is properly working and then debug possible errors in populations.
