Hi,
I work with @jakobwelner so maybe I can add some information about this.
As far as I know there should no be a problem to use pyNN and pyNN.nest side by side. The only thing, to be clear about whether you are currently using a PyNN or a nest object. While the latter is usually just an ID or a tuple of those, the former is a structured object. This information comes from Georg Hinkel, former developer of the platform.
In fact our model is working in the NRP and we are able to visualize it and we can also the activity in the spike train.
Just to clarify a bit more about what we have:
- We are able to reference the populations in the transfer functions, hence we can use spikesource and spikesink so connect sensory information and to map the outputs as well.
- We are able to use the spikes detector from Nest to be able to record the activity of each population.
- By using import
pyNN.nest as sim
and combining sim
and sim.nest
, we are able to use functionalities such as Get connections or Set Status of a connection, which we need to use in our model.
The problem is that we are not able to record a list of IDs in the brain model, however there could be a different way to do that in a transfer function?
kind regards,
Carlos
